John Jaques 4' 1850 Staunton Chess Set
John Jaques Staunton Chess Pieces were born, and to quote from a famous book on early chess 'Throughout it's history, nothing made such an impact on the design of chessmen as the introduction of the English Staunton Chess Pieces'.

John Jaques Staunton Reintroduction Chess Set with 4' King
John Jaques invented the 'now industry standard' Staunton design of Chess pieces in 1847 and have continued to enhance the design since the 1890s.
The 1890's production was widely used in Chess tournaments at the time and the modern Jaques equivalent continues to be used in the majority of todays tournaments. Jaques commemorate that fact by producing a high quality replica of this groundbreaking set and have produced a limited edition of 500 sets.
